Founded in 1989 by Félix Callejo, it is currently the second generation, Cristina, José Félix, Beatriz and Noelia Callejo, continuing this exciting legacy.
The experiences in other wine companies of both José Félix (Petrus-France, 1999; Torres-Chile, 2000) and Noelia (Araujo-Napa, 2007 and 2010; Cobos-Mendoza, 2008) have laid the foundation for the further development of a philosophy for making their wines. In the year 2000 they started to work under organic management in the vineyards. Fair and respectful viticulture, full of life in the soil and therefore for their wines.
Bodegas Félix Callejo is located in the village of Sotillo de la Ribera, province of Burgos, on the northern edge of the Duero river. The vineyards are located in a privileged environment due to the high location (830 - 930 m). The terroir consists of limestone, gravel (old river beds), sandy areas in the pine area and clay in the lower areas. It covers about 27 hectares of vineyards spread over Sotillo de la Ribera. The diversity of soils, climate, heights and respect for nature allows them to show the terroir in the grape varieties they work with: Tinto Fino, Garnacha, Albillo Mayor and Merlot.
