The color of this wine is deep dark red and shiny. The complex nose has a beautiful aromatic intensity of raspberry, blackberry, black currant and black cherry accompanied by floral and mineral notes. Its powerful and balanced structure reveals the purity of the fruit. The taste is full and elegant, pronounced by the persistence of the juicy fruit, and then reveals smooth and soft tannins. This vintage perfectly reflects the signature of its terroir and has very good aging potential.
Vintage 2017: The year started with a mild and dry winter, characterized by 2 weeks of cold at the end of January. Temperatures remained mild in the spring, causing the first buds to burst from March 29. An early harvest seemed likely, but the growth cycle slowed at the end of April due to cooler temperatures. The Gironde estuary then played its essential role as a thermal regulator during the 3 consecutive days of frost, which spared the vineyard.
Summer conditions in May and June encouraged even flowering. (Full bloom on May 29). The vine continued its development quietly, without any particular disease pressure, an undeniable advantage in the management of the 45 hectares of organic viticulture. The rain shower at the end of June led to the start of veraison on July 21. After a dry and moderate summer, the September rains accelerated the ripening process. The full maturity of the 4 grape varieties was therefore achieved in a very short time and the harvest took place under ideal conditions.
The team of a hundred pickers worked within the plots, in a very smooth operation. This precision work was reflected in the cellar, which was recently equipped with more than 90 small capacity barrels. The extraction was gentle and the maceration slightly shorter than last year. The 2017 climate was particularly favorable for Cabernet Sauvignon. This year they make up 76% of the Grand Vin blend, giving this vintage a very classic profile.
